Actually why Sileo has been introduced?
Cydia is more than 15 years old and Saurik is the key star. But from some time, Saurik is being silent and new jailbreak developers don't have time to wait till Saurik update Cydia to the latest version. As a result of that, they have created their own version of Cydia naming Sileo. Sileo is much faster than Cydia and all credits goes to Electra Jailbreak Team plus more for creating this awesome bundle.
Sileo will be compatible for iOS 11 onwards but not for the versions below iOS 11. For those versions which are below iOS 11 can use Cydia without no question. Further digging, Sileo will not be compatible for 32-bit devices.
But it is said that Sileo will work with previous Cydia repositories and packages and that is a vital implementation detail for those jailbreaking.
Pros and Cons of Sileo
As mentioned earlier, Sileo is the Cydia replacement and APT Package Manager designed for jailbroken devices by the Electra jailbreak team. It will be supported all 64-bit devices running iOS 11 and later versions. Just as with everything else, Sileo has its own pros and cons. Let’s check it out.
- Cydia supported repos will work with Sileo without additional configurations
- Users can add tweaks easily with Cydia similar interfaces
- Tweak developers have a platform for their products when updated for iOS 11
- Unsupported tweaks will be filtered out so that users don’t have to worry about the tweaks they are installing
- User-friendly UI for safe mode with more options
- Sileo will be load quite faster than Cydia
- Cydia purchases can continue with Sileo
- Will only support iOS 12.4 and later versions
- Sileo supports only 64-bit devices
- Tweak filtering could be an issue for tweak developers and testers
If you are still new to jailbreak or reluctant for a jailbreak, you still can experience this Sileo app with a light version.
